Understand more about Anaphylaxis, how to recognise an Anaphylactic Attack and what you should do.

Course Introduction and Anaphylaxis

In the first section, we introduce the course and how you take your Anaphylaxis course then we overview the course contents. Before we can understand how to treat Anaphylaxis we first look at some information about it and what Anaphylaxis is. Then we look at living with Anaphylaxis, minor allergic reactions and what the causes are and, when they are serious, how to activate the emergency services to get medical help.

Auto Injector Types, Storage and Disposal

There are three main brands of Auto-Injector and we look at each of these in separate videos. These are the Epi-Pen, the Jext and the Emerade. The word auto-injector is an umbrella word for any device and Epi-Pen, Jext and Emerade are the brands. Each type has slightly different instructions but these are printed on the unit. We then look at the storage and disposal of auto-injectors followed by the importance of checking the expiry dates.

Signs, Symptoms and Treatment

In this section, we look at the signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis and some basic first aid advice. We look at the best positions to place someone who is having an anaphylactic reaction, giving a second dose and the concerns of a second reaction called a biphasic anaphylactic response. Anaphylactic training for teachers and in schools is also covered to give a little more information on this sector.

Summary

In the summary, we look at practical and keeping your training up to date and then summarise the course to say how the test works, the downloads on the course and how you can review any part of the course before the test or after you have passed it. With all our courses you have access for 8 months so it is a good reference tool for the future and you can view new videos we update.
